UNIFORM / SKIN
Hessol by Nico Quinteros
There are shoots where the connection happens slowly, and others where it is there almost from the beginning.
With Dutch model @hessol__, the session quickly became less about posing and more about presence. Small gestures, pauses, the way he held a piece of clothing, turned his body or looked away from the camera began to shape the story.
UNIFORM / SKIN moves between sportswear, underwear and the body itself. Clothes appear first almost as a uniform: T-shirts, shorts, sweatshirts, trainers. As the series progresses, those layers begin to disappear, leaving behind skin, posture and gesture.
Shot in a simple studio setting, the images deliberately keep the backdrop visible and imperfect. The folds of the fabric, the hard transitions between light and shadow and the mix of black and white with occasional colour give the series a rawness that felt right for Hessol.
What interested me most while photographing him was the balance between confidence and vulnerability. There is something very direct about him in front of the camera, but also moments that feel quieter and almost private. That tension became the centre of the story.
Rather than trying to construct a character around him, I wanted to let the images follow his own physical language. The result sits somewhere between fashion portraiture and an intimate study of the male body.
